Uzbekistan–Tajikistan Business Forum on Pharmaceuticals Held

As part of the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan Business Forum on Pharmaceuticals, Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, held a meeting with a delegation headed by Yusuf Salomuddin, First Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Supervision Service, its territorial department for the Sughd Region, the State Unitary Enterprise “Expertise and Testing of Pharmaceutical and Medical Products”, as well as pharmaceutical companies from both countries.

During the event, the current state of the pharmaceutical industries of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, existing opportunities and promising areas of cooperation were discussed. Particular attention was paid to establishing production cooperation, localizing medicines and medical equipment, increasing export volumes, and implementing joint investment projects.

As part of the forum, members of the Tajik delegation familiarized themselves with the projects being implemented at the “BioPharma City” pharmaceutical cluster, its modern production facilities, infrastructure and localization opportunities. Information was also provided on the construction progress and educational opportunities of the Pharmaceutical Technical University.

B2B meetings were organized between local pharmaceutical manufacturers of Uzbekistan and Tajik companies. The discussions focused on specific proposals for entering the Tajik market, expanding bilateral trade relations, technology transfer and implementing joint manufacturing projects.

A showcase of medicines and medical equipment produced locally in Uzbekistan was also organized for the forum participants.

At the conclusion of the forum, the parties agreed to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, develop direct contacts between manufacturers, and continue practical dialogue on the implementation of promising joint projects.
